This was an opportunity to lead a project from inception to roll out.
I wrote the initial proposal that was awarded 300k funding from National Arts Council, leveraged off the the existing networks and infrastructure we had built at the Open Plan Studio Hub.
ARTLAB is a 3 month programme providing tools dedicated to DEVELOPING and ACCELERATING the PROFESSIONAL GROWTH of EMERGING CREATIVES who have been adversely affected by the COVID19 lockdown.
ARTLAB launches at OPEN PLAN STUDIO in Durban from December 2021 - April 2022.

ARTLAB participants are enrolled into a schedule of industry related events and collaborative projects, as well as given full access to OPEN PLAN STUDIO - PHOTO & FILM STUDIO, PRODUCTION FACILITIES and OFFICE SPACE allowing for private or portfolio work.

| OUTCOMES:
• Successfully guided 40 emerging creatives in their respective fields through a informative and interactive 3 month programme.
• In the time of covid19 lockdowns and economic difficulties we provided much needed subsidised services for programme participants and partners.
• Provided salaries for 7 staff, and visiting partners, during the full 6 month preparation and roll out phases.
• Kept the host venue relevant and engaged with the local community during the extended pandemic lockdowns.
I was humbled to be part of the ARTLAB project and team...
To be able to conceive and bring to life a simple idea and flesh it out into reality is one of the most powerful experiences the creative, designer, cultural producer can achieve.
